I mean, how different could it be?!
Enter Baker Dee. From day one, this boy had me wrapped around his tiny little finger. I can describe the three facial expressions I see from him at the start each nursing session and I can tell you the exact moment he looked at me - like, really looked into my soul - for the first time as I promised I'd be his advocate and protector. The mother/son relationship is the real deal, ya'll. I, of course, love each of my children with every fiber in my body so it's hard to describe the differences between mothering the girls and becoming a mom to this sweet little babe but they're there. Maybe it's because he is my first son and maybe it's amplified by the fact that he has special needs, I'm not sure, but one thing is certain - I freaking love this boy.
I also love watching Justin interact with Baker. Justin was made to be a father to his little girls. He is so good with them and they sure do love their daddy but watching him with Baker, his son, has been so special.
Like a lot of guys, Justin had hopes and dreams for what life with his boy would be like. Taking him fishing, teaching him how to drive a car and shave his face, watching him pass on the family name and, maybe most importantly, instilling his love of all things Oklahoma football and those Boomer Sooners.
When we first learned of Baker's Down syndrome diagnosis, it felt like a lot of those hopes and dreams shifted. We didn't know if Baker would be able to do those things. Now that he's here, we're quickly realizing that just isn't the case. Sure, he may never drive a car or have children of his own (then again, who are we to put a limit on what he can do?) but this boy is proving to be remarkable in so many ways.
Baker was barely 4 weeks old when his dad got him dressed that warm Saturday morning, just in time for his first OU football game. I'd never seen Justin so proud as to throw that crimson onesie on a baby, grab a beer and watch the game with his son.
Luckily for Justin, he can now keep track of game time with his new JORD wood watch. I was so excited when JORD reached out to me asking if we wanted to collaborate. They were kind enough to send Justin the Ebony + Iron polished wooden watch from their Hyde series.
This thing is a beaut, made from 100% natural, hand-finished wood and sapphire crystal glass. Seriously. So classy and stylish with the clean face and ultra-slim design. It can be dressed up for a night out but it's also functional enough to be worn every day, which he's done since receiving the watch.
JORD has full collections for both men and women that are beyond gorgeous so you're bound to find one that you love - for yourself or as a gift! As a special surprise, I had Justin's watch engraved with the kiddos' initials. JORD can engrave any watch with a special sentiment that makes giving (and getting!) this unique timepiece all the more special.
JORD is also running a giveaway for you! Fill out this quick form for a chance to win $100 towards any JORD watch. If you enter but don't win, don't worry! JORD is still giving you $25 off your order! The giveaway will run until October 22, 2017 at 11:59pm and both the $100 and the $25 codes will expire on November 30, 2017!
Justin is so proud to spend game days with his baby boy perched on his lap and those crazy girls running around the house. I no longer have to worry what Baker will be wearing come Saturday (OU and OU only!) and can sit back and watch them all interact with each other in awe. And when the time comes for Baker to learn how to fish and shave his face, there's no doubt Justin will show his son how to do those things with pride, too.

Boys! A unique bond indeed and tons of love. BTW: who knew they made watches out of wood? Love the carved initials!
